About The Miracle League of CT

EVERY CHILD DESERVES A CHANCE TO PLAY

The Miracle League of CT is a 501 c(3) not for profit organization that is dedicated to providing recreational and sporting opportunities for children with physical and or cognitive challenges at accessible facilities.  We are dedicated to the ideal that “every child deserves a chance to play”.

Our original goal, now accomplished, was to build a Miracle League Field in West Hartford at the corner of Asylum Ave. and Trout Brook Drive.  It is located within an existing Little League CT complex that is one of the finest in the state.  The Miracle League Field which is fully wheelchair accessible was the first of its kind in New England.  Hundreds of children from throughout the state come to West Hartford to participate in our spring and fall baseball leagues.  In addition to the field, we built an accessible to all playground that is one of the most used playgrounds in the area.

A TIME TO GROW

Our founding goal has now expanded to provide more than just baseball.  The Miracle League of CT is the main sponsor of the I Can Bike summer camp that is held each year in conjunction with the West Hartford Leisure Services Department.  The week long day camp helps children ages 8 and up to learn to ride a two wheel bicycle on their own.  We are now also partnering with the Mandell JCC to provide Miracle League Adapted Swim Lessons.  We have held movie nights on the field, parent’s night out, and are always looking for more opportunities for the children and families we serve.  The highlight of each fall is our “Trick or Treat – Miracle League Style” which brings almost 50 local businesses, civic groups and families together on the Miracle League Field to create an accessible neighborhood in which more than 200 children this past year were able to enjoy Halloween at a safe and accessible location.

In addition to expanding our programming, we are working to expand the facilities that are available to the families that we service.  We are working hard to work with other communities to build Miracle League Fields in their towns.  While we are very proud to be the first Miracle League Field in the state, we don’t want to be the only one.  More fields means more children being able to play baseball and other sports.  Ideally there would be Miracle League Fields strategically located throughout the state so that every child who wishes to play can do so at a reasonably local venue.

We are always open to new ideas that will help us to reach our goal to provide recreational and sporting activities for the children and families that we serve,  and we are looking for communities that would like to explore the possibility of building a Miracle League Field in their town, if you would like to share your idea or need more info please contact us via the options on our Contact page.
