A 2 week theater program designed for & guided by aspiring young actors with special needs
The program will take place July 31st – August 12th, We will meet at the 224 EcoSpace located at 224 Farmington Ave. in Hartford beginning on July 31st and will move locations to Playhouse on Park for the last 3 days of the program (August 10-12). Playhouse on Park is located at 244 Park Rd in West Hartford.
The actors will begin with a familiar story or fairy tale as a starting point. Over the next 2 weeks they will “fracture” that tale into a show filled with their own ideas. They will develop a script, choose music, design sets and then perform the show for family and friends on Saturday August 12th on the Playhouse on Park stage.
The program is open to young people age 8-21 who have any type of intellectual, developmental, or physical challenge. We’ll work any adaptive equipment they may use into the show.
Theater educators and technical staff from Playhouse on Park will lead the actors through their journey. Support will be provided by staff from The Miracle League of CT along with Occupational Therapy students from Goodwin University. Registration fee is $200 for the 2 -week program. Drop off is at 1pm each day, pick up is 3pm.
The goal of the Miracle League of CT is to remove all barriers that prevent children with special needs from participating in recreational, educational and cultural activities. If one of those barriers is a financial one, please email us at miracleleaguect@comcast.net to request a fee waiver for any of our programs. We will do our best to accommodate your request which will be kept strictly confidential.
